Madura Handicrafts Tote and Sunhat

Please Meet The Artisans
of Madura Handicrafts:

Madurese families were forced from the land they knew on Borneo, Indonesia because of their ethnic heritage. They were sent back to the island of their forefathers, Madura, Indonesia with nothing but the clothes on their backs. Arriving by cargo ship, they were relocated to hastily constructed villages in a remote location to restore their traumatized lives. Accepting guidance from national and international NGO organizations, the brave women of Kelbung learned to crochet handbags to provide hope for their families. The twine, a traditional handicraft once use to make fishing nets, now provides a security net for their future. Each purchase helps provide an income for its producer, increasing the possibilities of good nutrition and education for their family, and sustain other project initiatives: leadership and skill building opportunities, improved village health care, access to clean water, and community well being.

Thank you for your partnership with Madura Handicrafts.
